Books are one of the primary ways parents, teachers and guardians alike share stories of faraway lands and wild adventures to inspire curiosity in their children.
However, books can do much more, especially for young children learning more and more every day about the world around them. it is crucial to teach diversity, cultural competence and compassion to the young generations as they come into their own.
The Everymom blog published an article citing 50 children's books that promote diversity. Among these titles is Suki's Kimono by Chieri Uegaki, Happy in Our Skin by Fran Manushkin and African American Legends for Little Learners by Heritage Arts Illustrated.
